This is a socalled Blue bleheri (because of marketing reasons?). In Germany, it is called either Channa spec. Assam or Channa spec. Asia Blue. Is has not so much to do with Channa bleheri! Besides difference in breeding behavior, another visible difference between c. bleheri and this species is the coloring of the tail fin. It has one which resembles c. gachua and c. orientalis. It has no red blotches but in colore steel blue in between the caudal rays. Compare it to the other contribution of Chan Sow-Yan in our bleheri gallery, then will see the difference. It was to be seen in Singapore summer 2001. He runs an own site which can get to this way down. Thank you Chan shingshang.
