Juveniles

The young of C. bankanensis, C. melanoptera, C. marulioides not known. The young of C. gachua and C. striata are not easily separable, although those of C. gachua we have observed tend to lose their juvenile features earlier.

la. With very pronounced white 'pineal eye spot' on dorsal part of head; red or deep orange midaxial band at intermediate sizes which disappears rapidly to adult colours .

b. Without white 'pineal eye spot' on dorsal part of head; orange, yellow or cream longitudinal bands present .
